You’re getting very sleepy…you have a sudden and inexplicable urge to read every post on this site…and then email your friends the URL…now, WAKE UP…

In a battle of the capitalized acronyms, ABC tells KFC no thanks to their sneaky new campaign, citing the illegality of subliminal advertising. Whatever. The consumer of today…and especially the consumer with the technical knowledge required to actually view the “hidden message” of the KFC spot…is savvy and hip enough to understand the mesage of the KFC ad for what it is. Kudos to KFC for eing innovative and creative. ABC just doesn’t get it…ergo, they are luddite jamokes. Check this MicroPersuasion post about KFC and ABC for more info.

But wait, there’s more…this just in…stop the presses…

On the heels of the above braindead decision, ABC announced it will offer free downloads of its shows…but will include commercials in the show downloads. I picked up this info via the What’sNextBlog post about ABC and Digg. So, on one hand ABC tells a major national advertiser to pound sand…”we don’t want your money”. On the other hand, they do want the money from the advertiser. (Nevermind, of course, that Apple has made a huge business out of downloadable and AD-FREE content. Does the ABC braintrust not realize that people will pay for their shows/music/etc?) Does anyone at ABC realize the disparity here?
